Take A Breath for Students Ages 12-18

Including Special Recordings

For Grief and Acute Trauma

Core Practice

These recordings begin short and simple, often based in breath, to give the body and mind a break.  An opportunity to regulate your tension/relaxation balance, a 'reset'.  These are easy to use and give you an opportunity to use them almost anywhere.  Seated in a chair, lying down, riding in a car, etc.  There are specialty recordings here as well, to use in a tough moment, or to shift your response in a specific environment, or with challenging thoughts or memories.

To orient yourself to how these work, and the simple effects and benefits, begin with the this 3-Part Breath.

3-Part Relaxation Breath
Jeff Thomlinson

10 Minutes

These recordings begin to allow for a deeper physical relaxation response. These give the physical body more time to integrate the benefit of the deepening breath. Again, make sure you create the proper space for yourself.  Quiet, comfortable and uninterrupted.

Guided Meditation
Sonya Thomlinson

20 Minutes

These next set of recordings will create a deeper relaxation response and therefore the body mind will begin to benefit even further. At this length you may begin to receive the benefits of conscious sleep. The brainwave shift similar to those you find at night sleeping. So, you receive up to a 3 to 1 benefit ratio. The 20 minute lengths of these recordings are equal to 45 minutes to an hour of nighttime sleep.  This could be beneficial if your night time sleep is not restful.

Specialty Recordings

These are the ultimate in the supportive recordings.  They are meant for a deep, long rest.  (With the exception of the 5-minute 'stop the anxiety' recording, meant for real-time use in your day).

It is suggested that you choose a position to practice these recordings in which you can be very comfortable.  These recordings move through deep layers beyond the body and breath, with imaging and explorations of tension release in the psyche.    The gift of these practices; awareness.  You are simply observing the deep layers of the self, and not reacting, fixing, blaming, etc.  A true transformation is available here.
